And the CMM Bridge Builder Award goes to....the Maryland Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing and the Maryland Home Improvement Commission!

Community Mediation Maryland presents this award to recognize the transformational support of mediation services. Through the partnership between MHIC and CMM, homeowners and contractors have had the opportunity to work through conflicts in mediation and develop solutions. This collaborative approach saves time and money while fostering more positive relationships.

We are proud of our teams for their dedication to serving Marylanders!

"Life does not always follow a straight road. Sometimes it looks more like a GPS losing signal in the middle of nowhere."

When Jessica Temple took the podium as this year's GED graduation speaker at Harford Community College, she reminded her fellow graduates that even when life feels like a balancing act between work, family, and personal struggles, you are entirely capable of creating your own path and achieving your goals.

Jessica shared that her journey wasn't about perfection, it was about persistence and refusing to give up on your potential. To everyone out there working toward their own goals: Keep going. As Jessica said, "You can do hard things."

Congrats to the Class of 2026 of Harford Community College! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication.

This week saw an incredible milestone: Maryland's first-ever Recovery Friendly Workplace convening at the Frederick Health Village. The energy in the room was inspiring! ✨

The Recovery Friendly Workplace model honors the strength and resilience of workers who are impacted by substance use disorder and mental health conditions. By working together, we can eliminate stigma and create positive change.

Businesses, state agencies, and organizations from all over Maryland came together to share powerful stories and learn from experts on how to implement best practices in our communities.

Thanks to Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller for kicking off the day, sharing why this initiative is so personally and professionally important to her.

"Looking back—from barely graduating high school to standing up here today—I think it's important to remember not to let where we are today dictate where we end up. ... Five years of hard work can change your life."

Meet Alex Daragan, valedictorian of the 2026 graduating class for the Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 5 Apprenticeship program! Alex joined the program at age 30, having struggled in high school and leaving college four times. But he never gave up. After 5 years of hard work in the heat, cold, and rain, he stood on stage to represent Maryland's largest plumbing apprenticeship program.

"Just because we are out of school doesn't mean we're done," Alex reminded his classmates. "We need to keep going, keep learning, teach the next generation of apprentices behind us."

A huge congratulations to Alex and all the new journeyworkers! 🛠️🎓

It’s Heat Action Day! ☀️💧 When temperatures go up, it's important to stay hydrated and take action to stay safe at work.

Maryland’s Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) standards protect workers from heat-related illnesses by prioritizing water, rest, and shade. This Heat Action Day, make sure you know the state standards for heat safety and how to prevent heat illness on the jobsite.
