Baltimore Police Department Marine Unit and Underwater Recovery Team Since 1860 the BPD Marine Unit has been protecting Baltimore, its citizens and visitors. This responsibility covers 12% of all of Baltimore's 92 sq miles.

The BPD Marine Unit protects 11.67 sq miles of water and 61 miles of shoreline. Maritime Law Enforcement Unit

The latest update to our Navigation Capabilities infographic shows the three Temporary Alternate Channels surveyed and opened by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region since the collapse, as well as details about our ongoing efforts to open a 35' deep limited access channel within the federal channel span.

The latest update to our salvage operations plan includes the concurrent priority of establishing a limited access channel on the opposite side of the federal channel from DALI. ⚓ Progress indicators for response objectives are color-coded to indicate status. Our commitment to supporting the Unified Command Center in the recovery of the missing victims of this tragedy remains our top priority.

Missing Person Located

Relative to the investigation of missing person, Tara Savannah Payne (26), her remains have been located in the water just off of the 1200 block of Dockside Circle.

At this time recovery efforts are still ongoing. Her remains will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of her death.

Help Police Locate Missing 26 year-old Woman

The Baltimore Police Department needs your help locating 26 year-old Tara Payne. She was last seen on March 23, 2021 at approximately 1:30 a.m., in the 2800 block of O’Donnell Street.

Tara is approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds.
Family and friends are concerned about Tara Payne’s well-being.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Tara Payne is urged to contact the Southeast District’s Missing Person Unit at, 410-396-2422 or simply dial 911.
