Western District Attempted Murder Arrest
In reference to a shooting that occurred in the Western District, Baltimore Police have arrested 56-year-old Michael Thornton of Baltimore County.
Thornton was arrested in connection with the shooting of a 23-year-old male (originally reported as 19) in the 2000 block of North Bentalou Street on May 27, 2026.
Michael Thornton was arrested at the scene of the shooting and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and handgun violations.

Western District Shooting Investigation
On May 27, 2026, at approximately 3:59 p.m., Western District Officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of N. Bentalou Street in reference to a reported shooting.
Once on scene, officers learned that a shooting victim was transported to an area hospital by family members. Officers responded to the hospital and observed a 19-year-old male being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his arm.
A person of interest was taken into custody by officers after a brief foot pursuit, and he was transported to an area hospital for injuries. Additionally, an officer suffered a minor injury to his hand during the incident.
