We would also like to recognize THREE of our staff members who are graduating high school this week. We are immensely proud of them and how well they have represented themselves, their education, and our center.

Ella Grace Kellenbarger will graduate from Liberty Union High School. She has been responsible for cleaning the center for several years now, but will be taking on a new role as a child care staff member. During high school, she balanced Varisty Football and Basketball Cheer, working, and school, even completing the Phlebotomy program this semester. She plans to begin her post secondary education at Ohio University Lancaster in the Fall, and would like to focus on pediatric healthcare.

Cailin Lehman is graduating from Bloom Carroll High School. She was enrolled in an early childhood education program through Eastland-Fairfield Career center throughout her senior year, gaining education and experience in child development while also completing high school graduation requirements. Cailin also participated in Bloom Carroll’s musical this spring, and also managed to work in the afternoons in the toddler room, while also balancing school and the musical rehearsals. Cailin will remain with us this summer and then she will attend Otterbein University in the fall, studying Middle Childhood Education with a focus in science and math.

Brittan Davisson will be graduating from Lancaster High School. She has been a tremendous asset at Kids Zone for the last year and a half. Brittan has been enrolled in the career tech program for Teaching and Child Care for both her Junior and Senior Year of high school. During her time in the TAC program, Brittan was recognized for several accomplishments by her teacher and the Lancaster EdRising chapter, in a state and national level. Brittan has been an excellent role model to all staff and children, and has fostered such strong, positive relationships with all as well. She has been active in the 4H Equine community, and is looking into different opportunities to further her studies, finding a career that allows her to put her passion for horses and working with children together.

We congratulate these three beautiful, lovely, fantastic young ladies on their graduation and we look forward to supporting them in this next adventure of life!

Last night we held our PreK graduation, proudly recognizing the future graduating Class of 2039! 4 of our graduates have spent their whole lives at Kids Zone, and it is such a bittersweet feeling to look back at pictures of them from being little tiny babies to big (little) kids now!

We are so proud of our WHOLE PreK class, including those who will remain with us, those who will attend other programs in addition to ours, and those who are moving on to Kindergarten! The academic growth they have shown this year is nothing short of amazing, and they’ve worked so hard on their social and emotion development as well! We know they will all go into Kindergarten ready to learn even more, and will be excellent role models for their peers!

Over the weekend, we learned of the passing of Ms. Karen Legg, our former cook, who was so very loved by the children and staff at Kids Zone. Her favorite part of the day was when she would pass through the Toddler room and our little ones would yell "YAY Ms Karen" and when the PreK would sneak back to the kitchen to give her big hugs.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Karen's family as they navigate this difficult time, losing such a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.

I always struggle to put into words how much I appreciate my staff. The ones who show up day after day- some who balance school and work, some who balance motherhood and work, and some who balance all 3, plus all of our adult responsibilities. The ones who are able to put a smile on their faces, and bring a sense of love and security into the little lives we are responsible for. The staff who sing the silly songs, do the silly dances, who hold a child who isn’t feeling well, who give the best hugs after a fall, and who crawl around looking for a lost tooth or lost rainbow hair clip.

Kids Zone isn’t just like every other “daycare”. Starting on a child’s first day, we work to develop a meaningful connection between the children we are entrusted to care for, as well as their parents. We want Kids Zone to feel like a home away from home, and without our staff, none of this would be possible! We couldn’t be the center we are without the support from our parents, and our spectacular teachers!

We are a proud sponsor for many youth organizations in the area each year, especially since many of our KZ kiddos participate in so many activities!

This Spring, we sponsored the Baltimore Bombers 9U Select team, helping to purchase customized warm up jerseys!
