SARATOGA 250 TO HOST A FREE FAMILY-FUN DAY CELEBRATING 250TH ANNIVERSARY

OF HENRY KNOX’S NOBLE TRAIN OF ARTILLARY

SCHUYLERVILLE, NY— Saratoga 250 and County officials invite people of all ages to a series of events on Saturday, December 13, celebrating the 250th anniversary of Henry Knox's Noble Train of Artillery. The events commemorate the successful 1775 winter journey of Knox and patriots who transported crucial cannon from Ft Ticonderoga to Boston Harbor, leading to the British evacuation.

Schedule of Events:

The Noble Train Arrives in Saratoga County

1PM - Knox’s Noble Train procession will arrive at the Dix Bridge in Hudson Crossing Park from Washington County, featuring replica sleds and cannon pulled by draft horses, reenactors and community groups. Washington County 250 will hand off the ceremonial linstock to Saratoga250 before the procession continues down the old Champlain Canal Towpath into Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville.
Knox Fest at Fort Hardy Park

1PM to 4PM - Knox Fest 250, a free family-friendly festival, will take place at Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville. Experience horse-drawn wagon rides, chat with living historians like Henry Knox and General Philip Schuyler, and see the artillery from the 2nd Continental Artillery. Enjoy a bonfire, play games, and purchase food and drinks from local vendors. The festival wraps up with a "Starlight in the Park" lantern walk at 4PM—attendees are encouraged to bring a lantern or flashlight to join in!
Candlelight Concert Featuring Music of Knox’s Era

6:30PM - The final event is a free candlelight concert at the Arts Center on the Hudson in Mechanicville, featuring classical music from the era of Henry Knox. The Musicians of Ma’alwyck, accompanied by soprano vocalist Vedrana Kalas, will present live performances accompanied by dramatic readings of historical diaries and letters that help tell the story of the “Noble Train of Artillery.” Free general admission tickets are required and are available at saratoga250.com. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the concert begins at 7pm.
Lauren Roberts, Saratoga County Historian and Chair of Saratoga250 said, “This commemoration of Knox's Noble Train of Artillery really brings history to life in Saratoga County. The collaboration between reenactors from across New England, our draft animal association and local county 250th commissions has come together to create a weekend of events not to be missed. From Knox Fest with its lantern walk and evening artillery salute, to the candlelight concert in Mechanicville and the Knox Marker ceremony in Waterford, we are following Knox's sled tracks across Saratoga County. There is something for everyone looking to experience the incredible revolutionary history that happened in their backyard."

The celebration is a collaboration across states, counties, and historic sites, featuring a “cannon relay” with a replica Revolutionary era cannon, sleds, and reenactors.
