On Friday, people in our ACE/WOW program came together to remember and honor the 25th Anniversary of 9/11.
At 8:46am, they held a moment of silence to honor the moment the first plane struck the world trade center.
After the moment of silence, people in the program and staff shared their personal stories and memories of where they were when they heard the news. It was a powerful opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect together.
They then went out in the community for a special visit to the new "War on Terror" exhibit at the Saratoga Military Museum, where they connected history to the sacrifices made by service members and first responders.
After lunch, their learning continued with a hands-on lesson inspired by The New Yorker's October 2001 magazine cover, exploring the symbolism behind the artwork.
Most importantly, they talked about how the tragedy brought people together, reminding us of the importance of community, compassion, courage, and helping one another.
At ACE/WOW, learning doesn't have to happen inside four walls. Participants have opportunities to experience history, engage with their community, build meaningful connections, and learn through real-world experiences.
