Update from CPL33 President

BOP Acquisitions - As most have probably already seen, the bureau sent several acquisition requests to Sam's.gov. As of right now all of the requests are for information only. Requests have been submitted for Health Services, Food Service, and Commissary operations. This is just step one of a several step process, but as you all know there currently is no rule book for the bureau. So there is no way to really project a time frame in which the next steps might be initiated.

This is extremely alarming to us. As soon as I was made aware I reached out to AFGE to make them aware. I am working on a letter of opposition that will be blasted to every single congressional office asking for them to question and intervene. We may possibly place a call to action so individuals can fill out the forms to be individually sent to their congressional offices as well just so congress sees how important of an issue this is.

Court Case - We still do not have any news on the ruling for the PI request. I will update as soon as I have any information.

Correctional Worker's Week - This week is Correctional Worker's Week. Thank you to each and every individual who works inside the walls. Your dedication, strength, and commitment to this profession does not go unnoticed. You all are an essential part of keeping staff, inmates, and the communities safe. The resilience is what stands out most to me in this profession. In the times we are currently in resilience is what matters most! Keep fighting the good fight, keep on keeping on, and know the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT a train! Thank you for what you do day in and day out!

I also want to wish each and every mother figure out there a very Happy Mother's Day. Take a break, the house is fine, the laundry can wait, the kids most likely will not die...lol You deserve to take a break and decompress if even for a few moments! Hope you all have a blessed weekend.

Thank you!

Bipartisan momentum is building for the Federal Correctional Officer Paycheck Protection Act (S. 3626 / H.R. 7033). Outstanding job and keep pushing!

We are now at:

• 35 House cosponsors
• 5 Senate cosponsors
• In addition to our House and Senate sponsors

This month alone we added:

• 10 House members
• 2 U.S. Senators

Support now spans both Republicans and Democrats across FL, PA, NY, GA, CT, NJ, TX, IL, WV, AZ, NH, MA, CO, MN, and NE.

If you spoke with your Representative or Senator about signing on, follow up. Some offices are coordinating bipartisan sign-ons in Republican/Democrat pairs, so if you don’t see a name yet, it may be timing, not a no.
