Important Road Closure Alert ⚠️

A sinkhole has opened in Ball Ground Creek, at this time no infrastructure appears to be impacted but in an abundance of caution we’ve closed Valley Street from just beyond the main entrance of Ball Ground Elementary School to Coy M. Holcomb Drive, roads and sidewalks will remain closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until we have engineers assess the situation and ensure that adjoining areas remain safe.

This is a natural phenomenon.

🎓 Congratulations to Two Outstanding Ball Ground Leaders! 🎓

The City of Ball Ground is proud to celebrate City Manager, Palmer Rogers, on completing and graduating from the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cherokee 2026 Class!

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed the lives of Americans and the course of our country.

Today, the City of Ball Ground joins communities across the nation in remembering the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the service members who answered the call in the years that followed, and the countless families whose lives were forever changed.

We also remember the unity that emerged in the days after — Americans supporting neighbors, comforting strangers, and standing together during an unimaginable time.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, Mayor Nelson shares a message reflecting on the impact that day had on all Americans and the importance of continuing to remember.

May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the strength we found in one another.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Don’t miss what’s happening in Downtown Ball Ground this weekend, Art on Main September 12th & 13th!

Art on Main is almost here! 🎉🎉🎉

What to know before you go 👇🏼

Downtown will be packed all day, so come spend some time with us! The event runs from 11am-6pm both Saturday & Sunday!

Downtown businesses will be up and serving delicious meals, drinks, treats, and selling great items. Vendors will be set up on Old Dawsonville Road behind the stage, in the Barrel House Courtyard, on the sidewalks of Gilmer Ferry Road between the courtyard and the plaza, and between Old Dawsonville Road and the railroad tracks. Food trucks can be found on Old Dawsonville Road. Live music can be heard in City Connection Park and City Park. City Connection will be the Acoustic Stage, and City Park will be home to the Band Stage. The lineup for these incredible artists is insane, so you don’t want to miss it!

There is an incredible line-up of music all day, incredible vendors, live demonstrations, and more! We love art!

🚸🚸 Please utilize our crosswalks when crossing the street to keep everyone safe.
🗺📍 Check out the map below to see the festival locations and all available parking options and public restrooms.
🚰🚰 You can bring a cooler of waters + sodas, but no BYOB alcohol is allowed. Our downtown is open container, grab a drink from one of our open container downtown businesses: BG Tavern, Burger Bus, Dominic’s, Dot’s, RockSolid, Taco Social, or grab a b**r from one of the event b**r tents.
🚧🚧 Old Dawsonville Road will be closed from Gilmer Ferry Road to Groover Street beginning at 6pm Friday evening and will remained closed for the duration of the festival.
🚭🚭 Our public sidewalks and parks are smoke free.
☀☀ The weather looks magical, but please remember sunscreen and to stay hydrated.
🍔🌭🍻🎶 Be ready for incredible music, delicious food, drinks, and fun.

Come to downtown, cruise the sidewalks, and check out all that Ball Ground has to offer (we are biased, but we sure do love our downtown businesses).

Notice of Holiday Hours and Office Closures:

City Hall will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, for the Labor Day Holiday. We will resume back to normal operating hours on Tuesday September 8, 2026.

Trash and recycle service will be delayed and will be picked up Saturday, September 12, 2026.

If your trash or recycle is missed please contact City Hall Monday morning at 770-735-2123.
