On May 26, 2026,the Baldwyn Police Department was dispatched to a possible house fire at 503 South Second Street in Baldwyn. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed heavy smoke coming from the top of the residence.
Officers immediately ensured that no one was inside the home and made contact with the male homeowner, who had been alerted by nearby neighbors and returned to the residence. After confirming the home was unoccupied, officers and the Baldwyn Fire Department noticed a power line in close proximity to the area where the smoke and fire were present. Officers then notified Prentiss County Electric Power Association, whose personnel responded to the scene.
Multiple surrounding fire agencies assisted the Baldwyn Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
Chief Roy Ragin, Assistant Chief Cousins, and the entire Baldwyn Police Department extend their prayers and well wishes to the family as they recover from this unfortunate occurrence.

⚠️FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE⚠️

The Baldwyn Police Department announces that Detective A. Jennings was notified of a burglary at the Prentiss County Power Company during the early morning hours of May 12.
According to investigators, several items were reported stolen, including chain saws, pole saws, impact wrenches, and other equipment. Following further investigation, Detective Jennings received a tip that led officers to an abandoned home on Carnation Street, where most of the stolen property was recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges and updates regarding the suspect are expected to be forthcoming.
In just two days, the Baldwyn Police Department has recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and returned the property to its rightful owners after proper processing procedures were completed.

⚠️For Immediate Release⚠️

On May 13, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m.Criminal Investigator Jennings was contacted by the homeowner of 207 Cox Street in Baldwyn regarding individuals being on the property without the owner’s permission.
Chief Ragin,Asst.Chief Cousins,Detective Jennings, along with officers of the Baldwyn Police Department, responded to the residence and surrounded the home with the homeowner. During the search of the residence, officers located Joshua Grice hiding in a back closet inside the home. Detective Jennings and officers also discovered a large amount of reported stolen items inside the residence amounting to thousands of dollars worth of recovered merchandise .The Baldwyn Police Department currently had an active felony warrant for Grice at the time of this incident and was taken into custody. Additional charges are likely pending as the investigation continues.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
