For the love of spring flowers! 💐Our McHarrie Pointe residents practiced their flower-arranging skills and learned a thing or two from our talented activities director, Kenny Nash. We often receive donations of fresh flower arrangements and bouquets from weddings and other special events in our community. Our “florists-in-training” are perfecting their skills so they can repurpose donated flowers into beautiful arrangements to share with their fellow residents. Thank you to our friends and community for sharing your flowers with us!

How often do you get to meet a skunk up close and personal? Well, our residents had the unique opportunity to meet not one but TWO de-scented rescue skunks—Henry and Hilda—from Charles N. Gordon Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Chris Welshans, an LPN nurse at McHarrie Life, is a volunteer at the rehabilitation center. She organized this wonderful, educational event for all to enjoy. For many months leading up to Henry and Hilda’s visit, Chris generated excitement among the residents by sharing videos of the skunks’ rescue and their progress in rehabilitation.

For the safety of both the skunks and residents, we couldn’t pet them, but we could certainly see them up close in their full black-and-white striped splendor.

Charles N. Gordon Wildlife Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured raccoons and other animals in need, like Henry and Hilda.

Shamrocks, shenanigans, and a whole lot of fun! We’re donning our festive green shirts and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in full swing with live music, Irish dancers, karaoke, and shamrock shakes!

The month of February brought a little extra love in the air! ❤️Thank you to the Syracuse Home Auxiliary for supporting our annual Sweethearts Luncheon. With much appreciation for their generosity, our residents and their sweethearts enjoyed a beautiful meal specially prepared by our Chef Paul Murray. Our activities staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to organize and orchestrate this lovely event. Everyone had a wonderful time! ❤️

It’s time to flip some pancakes to celebrate Mardi Gras! Our staff members participated in our annual Mardi Gras Pancake Flipping Contest, and our residents and families cheered them on! Congratulations to our contest winner, Wendy Dona, who ran the fastest race to the finish line-- frying pan, pancake, and all! Thank you all for participating!
