The Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety provides firefighting, law enforcement, and paramedic-level EMS services to residents, property owners, and visitors of Bald Head Island. It is an agency governed by the Village of Bald Head Island, a North Carolina municipality. The Department consists of 24 full-time officers who are cross-trained as firefighters, law enforcement, and paramedic-level EMS providers. Numerous island residents volunteer to assist on calls and at departmental functions. The Department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Business hours are from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Our office assists with golf cart registrations, annual ICE permits, beach bonfire permits, etc.). The phone number during business hours is 910-457-5252. Per North Carolina General Statute 160A-81.1, the Council shall provide at least one period for public comment per month at a regular meeting of the Council. The Village Council schedules its public comment period during its regular meetings which are typically conducted on the third Friday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Public Safety Multi-Purpose Room located in the Public Safety Building which is located on Edward Teach Wynd across from Merchant’s Row.
