Yemi Salau for balchsprings city council

Yemi Salau for balchsprings city council My name is Yemi Salau. I serve as City Council Member, Place 7, for Balch Springs. Proud husband and father.

I was in Woodland Park the other day… and I had to stop and take it all in.

Because I can still remember what this place looked like a few years ago. And when I look at it today, I’m reminded of something:

Progress is possible when we refuse to give up on our community.

When I ran for City Council a few years ago, it wasn’t because I wanted a title. It was because I wanted to see District 7 better. I wanted our streets, parks, neighborhoods, and quality of life to reflect what our residents deserve.

We’ve had our challenges. We’ve had people make promises and, unfortunately, disappoint you.

But look around. 👀

This is what progress looks like.

The improvements you see aren’t the accomplishment of one person. They are the result of residents speaking up, people believing, and all of us working together.

We’ve had many wins. But I truly believe the best is yet to come. 🙏🏾

Thank you, District 7, for trusting me, supporting me, and allowing me to serve you as your Councilman.

We’re not finished. We’re just getting started.

September 11, 2001 — 25 Years Later 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

We remember the innocent lives lost, the heroes who gave everything, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the strength of a nation that came together in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

As someone who was in college in New York on 9/11, that day forever changed my life. The memories remain, and so does the responsibility to never forget.

Never Forget. Always Remember. 🇺🇸

May we continue to honor their sacrifice by choosing unity, courage, compassion, and service.

God Bless America.
God Bless the City of Balch Springs.

Our community asked. We’re showing up. We’ve been hearing from pet owners who are struggling to keep their furry family members fed, so we’re turning those calls for help into action.

Our goal? 10,000 pounds of pet food: 5,000 pounds of dog food and 5,000 pounds of cat food. And while the dogs have been getting some serious love from our generous community, our cat pile needs a little help catching up.

So, cat people, this is your moment! Pick up a few cans, add some cat food to your next shopping trip, or share this post with your favorite cat person. Every donation helps us be there for a pet owner when they reach out for help.

Tag a cat person who needs to see this!
