Thoughtfully designed public spaces are part of what defines the Bal Harbour Experience.

As part of an ongoing effort to prioritize pedestrian safety along our oceanfront pathways, electric mobility devices are no longer permitted in select high-traffic areas of the Village.

The ordinance includes e-bikes, e-scooters, and e-skateboards on the:

- Beach Path
- Jetty & Cut Walk
- 102 Street Beach Access Path

Devices used for accessibility and mobility assistance remain exempt.

This Memorial Day Weekend, enjoy our waterways responsibly. 🚤☀️

We had the opportunity to join Miami-Dade Commissioner Micky Steinberg and law enforcement agencies from across our region for an annual marine patrol meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and keeping our waterways safe.

This productive discussions among our municipal, county, and state partners focused on quality-of-life concerns and coordinated enforcement efforts on our waterways.

Thank you to Commissioner for hosting this collaborative meeting to protect our marine environment and enhance the quality of life for our residents and visitors.

We look forward to continuing these strong partnerships and working together to keep our waterways safe for everyone.

🚨 FRAUD ALERT 🚨

The Bal Harbour Police Department is aware of a regional crime trend involving suspects posing as legitimate vehicle transport carriers.

In these cases, victims arranged transportation for luxury vehicles through what they believed were reputable companies and brokers. After the vehicles were picked up, they never arrived at their intended destinations.

Before using a vehicle transport service:
✔️ Verify licensing and reviews
✔️ Confirm driver and carrier information
✔️ Use reputable, insured providers

If you have experienced a similar incident or have information related to this trend, please contact Bal Harbour Police Department at 305.866.5000.

May is National Bike Safety Month 🚴‍♂️

Whether you’re riding through Bal Harbour or driving alongside cyclists, safety is a shared responsibility. Simple actions like wearing a properly fitted helmet, staying alert, and giving bicyclists enough room on the roadway can help prevent serious injuries and save lives.

The Bal Harbour Police Department encourages everyone to remain visible, stay attentive, and safely share the road to help keep our community safe for all.

• Wear a helmet
• Stay visible
• Give cyclists space
• Stay alert

Congratulations to the recipients of the Bal Harbour
Chief Mark Overton and Chief Miguel De La Rosa Police Memorial Scholarship on graduating from the Police Academy today! After 9 months of rigorous training and preparation, your hard work has truly paid off.

Officer Traceshaud Carter will begin his career with Miami-Dade Schools Police, Officer Joan Smith will continue serving in the Surf- Bal- Bay area with the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department, and Officer Natalie Santos is currently in the process with a local agency.
The scholarships covered the full cost of their academy training-an investment in the future of our profession and our community.

Chief Overton and Chief De La Rosa are surely smiling down from heaven as their legacy lives on through each of you.

Thank you to for highlighting our recent training in Bal Harbour on the Blue Envelope law.

The legislation, awaiting Ron DeSantis’ signature, aims to reduce misunderstandings and improve safety during roadside interactions. Even before it’s officially enacted, agencies across the region are already training officers to better communicate with individuals on the autism spectrum.

Nearly 40 officers from 18 agencies joined us for one of the first sessions—led in part by individuals with autism, providing valuable firsthand insight. Initiatives like the Blue Envelope program help create calmer, more informed traffic stops and strengthen community trust.

Good leaders don’t just lead for today, they invest in tomorrow. Through mentorship, career development, and intentional succession planning, they build the next generation of leaders.

Kudos to the Police Chiefs of the South Florida Leadership Academy for their commitment to developing future leaders.

We were honored to hear from guest speaker Dr. Andrew
D. Wittman, PhD., whose message on resilience, leadership, and performance under pressure left a lasting impact on all in attendance.

Special shoutout to Chief Gause for her vision and leadership in making it all possible.
