Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation

Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation KCLEF supports all 29 Kern County law enforcement agencies by assisting them when resources are not

About

For the past 35 years, the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation (KCLEF) has dedicated itself to
raising awareness and funds for the 29 local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) within Kern County. Despite being one of the largest counties in California, Kern County remains one of the most
underfunded regions for law enforcement. This financial shortfall often forces officers to operate with

limited resources. KCLEF aims to enhance the safety and effectiveness of our officers while fostering a
positive relationship between law enforcement and the community. KCLEF ensures that 100% of donations are allocated to various Kern County LEAs and college
scholarships. These scholarships support high school and college students, active law enforcement
officers, and individuals pursuing careers in law enforcement who need to further their education. Our
annual fundraising dinner, now in its 36th year, along with new events such as the Sip & Safety
Luncheon and the Annual KCLEF Golf Tournament, demonstrate our ongoing commitment to community
improvement and support for our local law enforcement. In recognition of its significant contributions, KCLEF has been named Nonprofit of the Year by CA
Senator Shannon Grove. KCLEF helps the families of fallen officers, providing crucial financial support
and ensuring their children have the opportunity to attend college. This dual focus on immediate
financial aid and long-term educational opportunities underscores KCLEF’s commitment to the families
who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Mission Statement

The Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation (KCLEF) is committed to supporting the 29 Law
Enforcement Agencies throughout Kern County. Our mission is to provide essential resources and tools
that are often unavailable due to budget constraints, thereby enhancing the safety and operational
capabilities of our officers. We strive to shine a positive light on law enforcement within the community,
reinforcing the vital role they play in maintaining public safety. KCLEF is proud to have raised over one million dollars over the past three decades, benefiting local
departments and their various programs. Our efforts include funding equipment and materials, assisting
in the construction of facilities, and providing advanced tools and technology. Notable contributions
include building a canine facility for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, supplying fi****ms and Tasers,
implementing computer programming and tracking devices for drug enforcement, and providing
anatomically correct dolls for victimized children. In addition to operational support, KCLEF is dedicated to fostering the next generation of law
enforcement professionals. We award a $4,000 four-year scholarship annually and have pledged over
$100,000 for educational purposes since our inception. These scholarships support students pursuing
careers in law enforcement, ensuring they have the necessary education and training to serve our
community effectively. KCLEF’s achievements are made possible by the unwavering support of our members and sponsors. We
invite those interested in joining our mission to become members and actively participate in our efforts
to support law enforcement in Kern County. Together, we can continue to cultivate a strong, supportive
community that values and upholds the safety and security of its residents

Meet Yanet Alcazar, the California Highway Patrol Bakersfield area’s newest Public Safety Dispatcher. Lieutenant Norton swore her in and she’s ready to rock those headsets. We’re thrilled to have her on board, bringing motivation and a strong desire to serve the public.

Sgt Medina and Sr Dep Gonzalez along with representatives from CHP attended a local Bridge the Gap meeting in Pine Mountain Club. We truly appreciate the communities who take the time to host these events that open up the dialogue of how we can work together to make Kern County safer. This wasn’t the first and it’s definitely not the last.
