KERN COUNTY HONOR FLIGHT FACT SHEET
Honor Flight Kern County (HFKC) is one of 128 hubs from around the country that is part of the Honor Flight Network. HFKC is an all-volunteer non-profit created to honor veterans of Kern County and surrounding areas. While there is no central database, it is estimated that there are approximately 45,000 veterans in Kern County. Honor Flight takes any veteran tha
t has served through the WWII, Korean, Vietnam, and Cold War eras (including peacetime Veterans) to Washington, D.C. Veterans must have served before May, 1975. Every Honor Flight trip is free to each veteran as we believe our heroes have already paid the price. The trip includes airfare, ground transportation, meals, overnight accommodations, guided tours, shirts, a jacket, duffle bag, and a transport chair (if needed). All of this is made possible by the generous donations of our community. Veterans should apply now since there is a wait list. They can always defer when called, if needed. Veterans that have served in any era, with a life threatening illness, will be moved to the top of the list. Spouses are NOT eligible to accompany their veteran, even if they are assigned as a personal caregiver through the VA. HFKC’s first flight was on May 25-27, 2012. As of November, 2023, HFKC has flown 49 trips. HFKC has a monthly breakfast for Veterans on the first Thursday of every month. Breakfast is at the Elks Lodge, 1616, 30th St, 9-10:30am. Guests are $10. HFKC holds monthly breakfasts at Bakersfield, Tehachapi, Lake Isabella, and Ridgecrest. Our web address: https://www.honorflightkerncounty.org/
