The Reagan Elementary (Panama-Buena Vista Union School District) second grader is one of 500 people with Down syndrome from across the country whose photos will light up Times Square on Sept. 12 as part of the National Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk. 📚 One hour a week can make a lasting difference for a young reader. The Kern County Community Reading Project is looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with local second-graders, helping them strengthen their reading skills and build confidence. Volunteers commit just one hour a week, working with students in 15-minute sessions. Volunteer training is scheduled for Sept. 10, from 9 am to 11 am, at the Bell Tower Plaza.
