Kern County Public Works is performing roadway improvements on Mount Vernon Avenue between Brundage Lane and Virginia Avenue. The work includes removing the existing center median and portions of the concrete sidewalks on both sides of the roadway.

Lane closures will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during construction. Traffic will be maintained with one lane open in each direction for both northbound and southbound motorists. Construction is anticipated to be completed in February 2027.

The County Administrative Center (CAC), located at 1115 Truxtun Avenue, will be closed on Thursday, June 11, 2026, due to a power outage affecting the area. Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is working to resolve the issue.

The CAC is anticipated to reopen normal business operations on Friday, June 12, 2026. We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
