✨ **Building Hope Conference Recap** ✨

We were proud to host the Building Hope Conference with 100+ participants in attendance! The event featured 15 community vendors offering valuable resources and services including employment, health, education, child care, and tax assistance to support our families.

Attendees participated in three engaging mini‑workshops:
🏡 Homeownership & Credit
💼 Employment
💰 Financial Literacy

Special thanks to our presenters from the Housing Authority, Employer’s Training Resources, Wells Fargo, and Citizens Bank for sharing their expertise.

We were also honored to welcome our Keynote Speaker, Andre Fluellen, former NFL player with the Detroit Lions, who inspired everyone with his powerful story. He spoke about personal growth, perseverance, and the importance of seeing, thinking, and speaking your future into existence—and believing success is possible.

🍽️ Dinner and dessert were generously provided by the Marriott, keeping our guests fueled and connected.

🎁 A big shout‑out to our Service Coordinators for organizing 10 raffle prizes, including Chromebooks, movie tickets, Dewar’s Ice Cream, Coconut Joe’s gift cards, and more!

Big news for California history! 🌾
On April 22, Governor Gavin Newsom and State Parks Director Armando Quintero announced the proposed creation of three new California State Parks—including the historic Dust Bowl Camp.
Housing Authority Commissioner Carter Beardsley and Executive Director Stephen Pelz were honored to attend this important announcement.
Twenty‑six years ago, the Housing Authority partnered with former camp residents to establish the Dust Bowl Historical Foundation, dedicated to preserving the camp and its artifacts.
The potential designation as a State Park marks a major step toward honoring this powerful chapter of history and protecting its stories for generations to come.
