Latina Leaders of Kern County

Latina Leaders of Kern County Building a Stronger Community, One Leader at a Time. Action and learning about leadership potential in critical to program participation.

Latina Leaders of Kern County has worked hard to develop a collaborative effort to encourage and educate young Latinas to get involved in the process of finding solutions to issues facing young women, especially Latinas in today's world. By providing the necessary tools, encouraging confidence and collaboration, and unique opportunity for the girls to be exposed to current issues firsthand, we bel

ieve these young ladies will be well equipped with the ability to become our leaders of tomorrow. Participation in this program has allowed many young Latinas to expand their horizons and think beyond the present to establish a brighter future. Past participants have been motivated to run for student council, take action and become involved in issues at their schools that are affecting them, and to look towards the future to plan a career path that may not have been viable to them prior to participation in the program. More importantly, these young women learn that they are in the process of becoming the mentors for the younger generations, and they encourage other students to get involved and participate in the program. Today we officially kicked off our Youth Leadership Program, a program that began over 20 years ago! 🎉 What started as a dream to empower young Latinas in Kern County has grown into a thriving community of leaders. This year, we’re especially proud to have mentors who once stood in our students’ shoes, now guiding the next generation with their experience and heart. 💫

Our program is designed to help students become better prepared to make positive, informed educational and life choices by learning teamwork, goal-setting, college prep and community engagement.

Huge shoutout and thank you to Deanna Blaise from Valley Strong for leading today’s session on financial literacy, setting the tone for a year of smart choices and empowered futures! 🙌

Here’s to growth, leadership, and sisterhood that spans generations! 💪

We find our motivation & inspiration in those who came before us, those who lead with us and in those we pass on the torch to.
