*SCAM ALERT*
The City has become aware of a potential scam soliciting large payments using the City’s branding.
The scam includes asking for large sums of money to be paid to a City department in relation to permits or other fees. The invoice uses a low-resolution version of the City’s logo, as well as staff names, titles and addresses associated with the City to make it appear legitimate.
The scam may also include an email address that appears legitimate, though the domain is not one used by the City of Bakersfield (i.e.: .com).
The scammer then asks for payment through wire transfer. The scammer also states that correspondence must only be done through email, including asking for payment instructions, to ensure “a clear, time-stamped record of all communications.”
If you believe you’ve been a victim of this or any other scam or fraud attempt, please report it to:
> The Federal Internet Crimes Complaint Center at www.IC3.gov
> The Bakersfield Police Department at [email protected] or at 661-326-3536.

It's days like these that we absolutely love to celebrate.
More residents of the Brundage Lane Navigation Center have completed the Culinary Arts Training Program!
The residents completed a 10-week, 120-hour program, learning the ins and outs of working in a kitchen, preparing food and serving clients.
The program provides them transferable skills that will ultimately help them get back on their feet.
Congratulations to Jose, Alexandra, Kiesha and Juan!
