Yesterday, students in the Baker Middle School Sources of Strength Club took their message of hope, help, and strength out into our community.
Students visited local locations including Albertsons, Bi-Mart, and Maverik, where they shared flyers and held up signs they designed with positive messages and talked with community members about sources of strength such as family support, positive friends, mentors, healthy activities, and community connection.
This is the second year our students have led this outreach campaign. Many community members shared how meaningful it was to see students spreading messages of hope and encouraging others to reflect on the strengths and supports in their own lives.
This is our 3rd year doing this SOS club. SOS is a student led upstream su***de prevention club, supported by BMS adult advisors that focuses on building connection, resilience, and protective factors to support student well-being and su***de prevention. Through the program, students learn how to recognize and strengthen the positive supports in their lives and help share those messages with others.
We are incredibly proud of these student leaders for helping build a stronger, more connected school and community
