Today, Deputy Marshal Samaniego gave a PowerPoint presentation about active shooter awareness at Baird ISD.
Monday, the Baird Marshals Office will exhibit a live “training” session at the school to better prepare/educate the staff, and eventually the students, of how law enforcement will safely approach a critical incident.
We all hope we never have to put this training to use, but we will organized and prepared.

It’s that time of the year again!! School starts August 16th. Please be mindful of kids crossing the street and all of the active school zones. Not all school zones have flashing lights, be aware of street signs also.
It is unlawful to use a cellular device in a school zone; unless otherwise using Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto in your vehicle.

West 7th Street is going to be “one-way” during school zone hours from Vine Street to Girard Street.

School zone on W. 7th goes from Race Street to Girard Street. 20 mph.

Please practice patience getting through the first week of school and leave earlier if possible as the school works out the kinks of the car line. With everyone’s help, it’ll go so much smoother.

Just wanted to take a moment to recognize two great officers, Deputy Marshal Samaniego and Callahan County Deputy Terry Sliter.
Late last night, a dark colored Chrysler violated a traffic offense on interstate 20. Callahan County Deputy Terry Sliter initiated a traffic stop while the Baird Marshals Office assisted with the stop. After a short interview with the driver and passenger , officers could smell the odor of ma*****na inside the vehicle. Officers conducted a probable cause search, which yielded close to 25 pounds of methamphetamine.
Both occupants of the vehicle were placed in custody and transferred to the Callahan County jail.

Thank you guys for doing your part to keep our roads safe !!
