--Record participation in Annual Meeting--

We had 48 members filling the pews of the church and 86 participating via proxy for a grand total of 134. After a rather rambunctious start, the meeting settled down as the president delivered the annual operations and financial update and then covered the proposed bylaws amendments in detail. After two and a half hours of full-throated democracy, with all voices heard and all questions answered, the bylaws amendments were passed by unanimous vote after a single edit to the language was offered from the floor and adopted. Likewise, both board members up for re-election were re-installed by unanimous votes. Thank you for your participation in governing your member-owned cooperative. --Annual Meeting TONIGHT!--

Our 59th Annual All Member Meeting is scheduled for 7pm on Thursday, 16 July 2026 at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church, 3931 West Mt. Carmel Road.

Agenda to include:
- Operations Report
- Audited Financial Report and Budget Performance
- Bylaws Amendment
- Election of two directors

Please visit the NLWA website (https://nlwa.ms) and click on the Annual Meeting link to see documents posted for members to review prior to the meeting including a proposed draft of amended bylaws that will brought up for vote.

We need a quorum of at least 1% of the members to participate in the annual meeting in order to conduct elections and all other all business of the Association. A member in good standing is the owner of one or more properties with NLWA water service who is not overdue on any payments to the Association. Each member in good standing has one vote, regardless of how many served properties or meters they have. Such a member may vote in person at the annual meeting or may use our online proxy form (https://nlwa.ms/index.cfm/my-account/proxy-vote-form/) to designate another member in good standing to vote in his or her place at the annual meeting. If you are confident that the current Board of Directors is acting in your best interest, you may assign your proxy vote to the President of the Board, who will vote on your behalf at the annual meeting for the candidates and policies the Board is proposing. --USA 250th Birthday--

Our employees and directors are proud to recognize this momentous anniversary of the birth of our nation and the greatest advent of Providential blessing and human freedom in six thousand years of recorded history. We hope you will take the time between now and this Thursday to stop by our office for some Independence Day treats and trinkets. NLWA is a member-owned cooperative, and we would not exist if our members did not have the freedom to organize themselves politically and financially to provide services for themselves, and to govern themselves through elected representatives. The water is back on and the lines are flushed. Thank you for your patience during this complex project.

-- Planned Water Outage Tomorrow --
Water may be interrupted for several hours tomorrow for those in the area outlined in orange below. We are connecting one segment of the new water line on Van Zyverden Rd. --Meter Upgrades--

As we announced in December, we are proceeding to replace all of our aged-out mechanical meters with new electronic meters. After a couple months of learning the new technology, we are now ramping up the installation rate. Most change-outs take less than 15 minutes. We are trying to avoid peak usage times by restricting our installations to between 8am in the morning and 6pm in the evening. If you happen to see an employee or contracter working on your meter box, feel free to approach him and ask any questions about the new meter. He should be wearing clothing and carrying ID that identifies him as working for NLWA. Changing out all our meters will take till the end of the year or beyond. You may call the office at 601-681-6157 to verify we have people working in your area.

The new meters read water flow with ultrasound instead of mechanical parts and have a digital display that is very easy to read. Instead of a spinning leak indicator they have a very precise digital flow meter. If the flow never goes to zero, you definitely have a leak (see photo).

We are building a new online customer portal which will let you see hourly meter reads and past bills; set up text, phone and email alerts for unusually high consumption that appears to be a leak; update your contact information; and give you control of your payment methods and timing. More on that soon.

Our annual water quality report, also known as a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), has been posted online at https://nlwa.ms/ccr. We are happy to report another year of full compliance and zero exceedances or violations. The mission of NLWA and the focus of your elected board of directors is to consistently deliver healthful and high-quality drinking water.

--Plant 4 Water Outage--

Lightning strike locked up Plant 4 electronics last night. Rerouting water this morning from other plants to put all members back in service while we work to restore it.
