Today, the sixth grade class at Bagley Elementary celebrated D.A.R.E. graduation on the last day of school. Deputy Clarence LaCroix, Chief Deputy Vern Wittenberg and Deputy Wyatt Swenson enjoyed a morning of playing kick ball at the Frog Pond with the students and then in the afternoon, were treated to a pizza party. Congratulations to the students for graduating from the D.A.R.E. program and thank you to Deputy LaCroix for teaching them.

May Thoughts From The Sheriff

We are looking for help from the community. We are working on a project to preserve the history of the Sheriff's Office. Part of this preservation is we are wanting to display framed pictures of all thirteen Sheriffs that have served Clearwater County. We have the Clearwater County Historical Society helping as well. We are looking for photographs of three Sheriffs that we are missing. They are C. A. Anderson who served from 1909-1915, E. D. Barnes who served from 1916-1920 and Art Anderson who served from 1935-1946. If anyone has any pictures of these Sheriffs or of any of the other Sheriffs you would like to share, you can either drop them off at our reception window or you can email them to Sheriff Darin Halverson at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for helping us with this project.

Today, members of the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Reserve, Clearbrook-Gonvick School and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conducted ATV safety training in Bagley. Congratulations to all of the students that came out to get their ATV operator certificate!

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam that is recirculating. The caller will claim to be a deputy with our office and will tell you that there is a warrant for your arrest for missing jury duty. They will say it was for federal court. This scam will try to get you to pay a “bail” amount to satisfy the warrant or you will be arrested. If you receive this type of call, hang up and do not give out any personal or financial information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office at 218-694-6226.

Today is the statewide tornado drill. Weather sirens will sound at 1:45 PM and 6:45 PM. This is a time to practice what you would do in the event of a real tornado.
