Badin Volunteer Fire Department

Yesterday, Badin VFD was dispatched to a residential structure fire on NC 740 Highway. Upon arrival, it was a single story residential structure that was fully involved. Badin, Albemarle, and East Side units made an initial interior attack, but due to deteriorating roof conditions, all units were pulled out and went into a defensive attack. A tanker task force was called to provide water supply due to lack of hydrants. The following departments were on scene:

Last night, Badin VFD recognized all living former fire chiefs of Badin. These men have served our department and community for decades and are greatly appreciated for their leadership.

Ray Smith: 1984-1990

Jerry Hudson: 1991-1998

Dale Ward: 1999-2016

Terry Eudy: 2017-2021

Each chief was presented a Retired Chief license plate for their personal vehicle. We want to thank them for their years of service to our community!

Badin VFD has been awarded the 2026 State Fire Grant from NC OSFM

This grant will be used to purchase the following equipment:

-2 New Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
-2 New RIT Packs and Bottles
-7 Portable Radios & Accessories

The N.C. Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burning near Badin today.

NC State Parks is partnering with the NC Forest Service to do a prescribed burn at Morrow Mountain State Park near Badin, NC on Friday, May 15th, starting around 10:00 am. No park facilities or trails will be impacted or closed for this burn. Some areas on Badin Lake, Falls Reservoir, and the Uwharrie National Forest may have reduced visibility from smoke.

Today Badin VFD hosted the kindergarten classes from Badin Elementary School. 🚒🚨

The students learned about fire safety, responsibilities of the fire department, firefighter gear, and the different equipment that we carry to serve our community. They watched a firefighter get dressed out in gear & gave him high fives, then went outside to explore Engine 261! 👨🏻‍🚒👋🏻👩🏻‍🚒

Tonight Badin VFD responded to a brush fire on Guard Rd that started from a tree on a power line. Badin personnel quickly extinguished the fire and the power company was called to restore power. Other units included N.C. Forest Service and East Side Volunteer Fire Department

Tonight for training, Badin personnel did the Denver Drill. This drill is used to rescue firefighters from a narrow space and remove them through a window. Our firefighters train hard to keep our community and each other safe. Strong work everyone!
