The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is advising consumers, retailers, and clinicians about multiple recent Salmonella outbreaks associated with recalled moringa-containing products, including powders, capsules, and other dietary supplements. Massachusetts is among the states with reported cases.

Consumers should check their homes for recalled dietary supplements containing moringa leaf powder. Recalled products include certain:
• TNVitamins Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa 10,000 mg capsules
• Doctor’s Pride Complete Green Superfood Ultra Potent Moringa 10,000 mg capsules
• Why Not Natural Pure Organic Moringa Green Superfood capsules
• Live it Up Super Greens supplement powders, including certain Original and Wild Berry products
• MOGO Pure Moringa Oleifera capsules
These products have been distributed nationwide, primarily online through company websites and other online retailers, including Amazon, eBay, and Walmart. Recalled products should not be eaten, sold, served, distributed, or purchased.

In addition to those listed above, other moringa-containing products have also been associated with recent Salmonella outbreak investigations. Consumers should review FDA recall notices and CDC outbreak updates before using any moringa powder, capsule, or supplement product.

☀️ A heat wave is expected in Massachusetts over the next seven days. Some folks are more sensitive to heat-related illness than others- so it's important to be prepared!

🥵 Remember- "first is the worst": Data show that heat-related illnesses and hospital visits spike during the first stretch of 85°F days, before people have acclimated to the heat.

🔥 Vulnerable populations: During prolonged periods of very hot weather, which may include high humidity, the body must work harder to stay cool, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. While anyone can be affected, older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, workers exposed to excessive heat, and people with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

🌡Prevention: Taking preventive steps—like staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous activity, and seeking cooler environments—can help protect you and your loved ones during period of extreme heat. Check on your friends, family and neighbors during heat waves! 👋

Nashoba Associated Boards of Health welcomes adults who are experiencing grief to participate in monthly, free, drop-in Grief & Healing Support Groups throughout the region. Facilitated by grief counselor Karen Campbell, MSMHC, these support groups offer a safe space to share experiences of the grief journey. These groups are an opportunity to learn more about the grief process and strategies for managing grief.

Since grief is an evolving process, occasional check-ins with a grief support group may be beneficial. No one is required to commit to consistent attendance.

Ticks are active across Massachusetts — and prevention matters. 🌿🕷️

Protect yourself and your family this season by:
✔️ Using EPA-registered insect repellent
✔️ Wearing long sleeves and light-colored clothing outdoors
✔️ Checking for ticks after spending time outside
✔️ Showering soon after coming indoors
✔️ Protecting pets with tick prevention products

Early awareness can help prevent serious tickborne illnesses like Lyme disease, babesiosis, and anaplasmosis.

The role of your local Board of Health: Positive lab results for tick-borne illnesses are reportable to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) per State law. MDPH then tasks your local board of health with case investigation and follow-up. One of Nashoba’s public health nurses may reach out to you to see how you are doing, ensure you are getting appropriate treatment, and to help track the spread of communicable disease. We also educate the public about preventing tick-borne illness to help keep our communities as healthy as possible.

Stay safe, stay informed, and enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

Not all heart risks come with a warning—and some start in places we don’t expect.

Pregnancy can reveal or raise the risk of serious cardiovascular conditions, even in women who feel healthy. The good news? With knowledge and guidance, many of these risks can be prevented, managed, or caught early.
