🌡️ HEAT WAVE SAFETY REMINDER 🌡️
As we head into the July 4th holiday, temperatures and heat index values are expected to be extremely high over the next several days. We encourage everyone to take extra precautions while enjoying outdoor activities.
Stay Safe by Remembering to:
-Drink plenty of water—even if you don't feel thirsty.
-Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a hat when outdoors.
-Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
-Keep a close eye on children, older adults, and pets, as they are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
-Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.
-If you're grilling or setting off fireworks, stay hydrated and avoid overexerting yourself in the heat.
Know the Signs of Heat Illness:
Heavy sweating, dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps, or weakness may be signs of heat exhaustion.
Confusion, loss of consciousness, hot dry skin, or seizures may indicate heat stroke—a life-threatening emergency. Call 911 immediately if someone is showing signs of heat stroke.
We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend. Please look after your family, friends, neighbors, and pets, and don't hesitate to call 911 if you experience or witness a medical emergency.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and have a safe Fourth of July!
