The field was inspired by the memory of Maria McNamara, as a way to honor children battling cancer and those we have lost. UPDATE: As many of our faithful supporters know, Maria's Field of Hope in Avon, not being our own property, has struggled with soil quality for the last few years. We are beginning to bloom now with shorter sunflowers that will be with us for just a short time. Maria's Shop wi
ll still be open at the field. Beginning September 24th - Stop and visit us to purchase some great items and gifts to support the vital work for kids diagnosed with cancer. When Maria's Sunflower Field of Hope is in bloom around August/September, people are welcome to walk the fields from sunup to sundown. We have a Field location in Avon at the corner of Chester and Jaycox Rd a Field location in Sandusky next to Cedar Point’s Express Hotel. Maria's Shop located at the field offers a nice array of merchandise for sale to support the efforts of the Foundation. Information about the foundation can also be found at the shop. Visit Maria's Shop at the field seven days a week from 10 am - 8 pm per volunteer staff availability. The foundation often holds fun, specially planned family-friendly events at the field for visitors. See the calendar of events on our website for more details. Once the bloom season ends, the foundation harvests the sunflower seeds and bags them as bird seed for sale at select local garden centers, Maria’s Shop in Rocky River, and online. All proceeds from the sale of our seeds go to the foundation and our fight to end childhood cancer. We welcome you to enjoy your time at Maria's Field of Hope!
