Yesterday, Pecar Nature Center had to say goodbye to one of its most beloved animal ambassadors, Jade, our handsome green iguana. 💚🦎
Jade was rescued by A Critters Chance when he was just 2 years old. When he arrived, he was underweight and in poor health, but with lots of time, care, and attention, he began to thrive.
Over the years, Jade grew into a beautiful and VERY large green iguana who never missed an opportunity to soak up the attention and be told just how handsome he is! 💚
As Jade grew, so did his needs. Large iguanas require specialized care, plenty of space, and an environment that supports their natural behaviors. After careful consideration, we knew the best thing for Jade was to find him a new home with staff who have extensive experience caring for large reptiles.
Saying goodbye was not easy. Jade has been loved by our visitors, volunteers, and staff, and he has certainly made his mark on all of us. But sometimes, loving an animal means knowing when another environment can give them an even better opportunity to thrive.
We will miss our handsome green giant more than words can say, but we couldn't be more excited for his next chapter! Jade has found his new sanctuary at Erin's Farm NFP, where he can truly live up to his new title as the “King of the Lizards.” 👑🦎💚
We’re so grateful we got to be a part of Jade’s journey, and we can’t wait to hear about all the adventures waiting for him!
