First Company Governor's Horse Guards

Interested in becoming a Governor's Horse Guard Trooper? The next recruit training class begins on Sunday April 3rd. Classes meet twice a week (Thursday nights & Sunday mornings) for 16 weeks. Learn horsemanship, horse handling, equitation, military bearing, dismounted drill and the history of the unit. Visit the unit any Thursday night between 7:30pm-10pm to sign up.

On Saturday, 4 December, the First Company Governor's Horse Guards of Avon, CT held an event for children of the military families, 'Horses for Little Heroes.' This day gives children of servicemen and women a chance to experience something new, meet our horses and to feel good about themselves.

The 2015 Connecticut Day at the Big E had an attendance of 90,000 break all records. The weather was 'allededly' to be around 75, but with the direct, cloudless sky, it felt about 85.

The traffic was horrific and the delays long. However, we were able to get an es**rt from the Massachusetts State Police, directly from Agawam to the Big E, gate 1. Thank you to all the men in service who helped us and continue to help us!

Special thanks to CPT Oakcliff who drove our trailer and then had to go onto drive to Syracuse later that night.

The Friends of the First Company Governor's Horse Guards recently held a fundraiser at La Trattoria Restaurant in Canton, CT. For a donation of $20, guests recieved a fantastic dinner, with music by DJ Paul and a drawing.
