From Abacus To AI: A brief history of computing – past, present, and future
Tuesday, September 8th @ 2:00 pm in the Community Room

From Abacus to mechanical machines to AI, this fast-paced course takes you on a whirlwind tour of computing’s past, present, and future—exploring the inventions, people, and breakthroughs that transformed the way we live, work, and think. The course traces the evolution of computing from its earliest mechanical roots to the digital revolution and beyond. It will examine key milestones in hardware, software, and networking. By exploring both historical context and contemporary implications, the class provides a foundation for understanding the role of computing in past innovations and its trajectory into the future. It will also include some “quirky” facts about the evolution of computing.
