Earlier this week Chief Leahy and Sgt. Logan were able to attend training to help our department be better aware of physical safety issues on school campus. We appreciate National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) for putting on the class, Danville Community School Corporation for hosting along with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department. This training was funded by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security through the Office of School Safety.

Yesterday afternoon our department grew by two. We welcome Officers Whitfield and Butler. Both will be attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in May.

Yesterday most of our team had the opportunity to meet Tony Dungy as part of a celebration of the Avon band and orchestra programs. What an honor to spend some time with a truly inspirational and humble man.

Officer DeWitt completed her NASRO basic class this past week. This class is required of all SROs in Indiana as a way to equip Officers to serve in the school environment. Thanks to Chief Kiritschenko from Danville Schools for assisting in the instruction.
