It was great sadness and heartbreak that we mourn the death and assassination of Charlie Kirk last Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
Charlie Kirk was many things. He was the founder of Turning Point USA, an organization that energized millions of young people to believe and stand for conservative principles. He was a stalwart, vigorous advocate for free speech. He was a courageous defender of liberty, public discourse and conservative values. He endured ridicule and hate from his opponents, but he respected them and sought to persuade through debate and civil discourse. He was also a strong family man who loved his wife Erika and their two children. He was a tireless promoter of the family. He was also a Christian and proclaimed his faith in Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word to the world.
Even though we are heartbroken, I pray that through Charlie Kirk, the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is proclaimed. I pray that hundreds of millions of souls throughout the United States and all over the world would come to repentance and call on Jesus as Messiah and the Son of God. He is the only One we can turn to for salvation and hope amidst a world of sin, violence and hate. And I pray that the Holy Spirit would move mightily to save our nation from the spiritual and cultural forces of sin and darkness that grip our nation.
I ask all of you to do four things:
1) Go to church every week
2) Pray and ask God that hundreds of millions of souls would come to repentance and belief in Jesus Christ and that He would save our nation from the spiritual and cultural forces of sin and darkness
3) Be courageous and share your religious, cultural and political views with your family, neighbors, friends and colleagues. Share your views on social media and write letters to the editor
4) When someone disagrees with you or insults you, be like Charlie. Listen, dialogue, debate and respect that person.
Best,
