We NEED Your Help, Avoca!

Sometime during the night of September 2nd or early morning of September 3rd, a City park bench in Edgington Park was intentionally destroyed. Damage like this comes at a cost to all of us, and we are asking anyone who may have seen or heard something—or who has information about what happened—to please come forward.

Even a small piece of information could be helpful.

Please contact Avoca City Hall at 712-343-2424 or the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office at 712-328-5737 with any information.

We take pride in our parks and community spaces. Please help us identify those responsible and help us keep these spaces safe and enjoyable for everyone!

💧Help us Celebrate Iowa Drinking Water & Wastewater Workers Week! 💧

August 23–29, 2026, is Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week — a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who work every day to protect public health, provide safe and reliable drinking water, maintain critical infrastructure, and safeguard our environment.

Here in Avoca, we are especially proud to recognize our Public Works team:

👏 Michael Chapman — Public Works Director/Code Enforcement Officer
👏 Donnie Voneschen — Public Works Technician
👏 Jeff Sage — Public Works Technician
👏 Bailey Walker — Public Works Technician

Much of the work these professionals do happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt by every resident, every day. From keeping clean water flowing to maintaining our wastewater systems, their knowledge, dedication, and commitment help make Avcoa a safe, healthy, and great place to call home.

Michael, Donnie, Jeff and Bailey — THANK YOU for all you do for the City of Avoca and our community! 💙💧We'd also like to thank Regional Water Rural Water Association and their team for being solid partners, allowing us to serve our residents high-quality water!

Help us celebrate them during Iowa Drinking Water & Wastewater Workers Week! Let's give them a hand or thumbs up to show support!
