Students at West Sand Lake Elementary School filled their giant WSL Way ticket jar with all the green tickets they received for following the WSL Way this year. Family Consumer Science students participated in the NYS Agriculture in the Classroom challenge, where they were tasked with inventing an ice cream recipe, developing a marketing campaign, and then creating the recipe. One of the Grade 7 classes at AMS came in second place out of 220 submissions! They created an ice cream named "Adirondack Strawberry Avalanche."

Students were broken up into multiple teams within the classroom, and job tasks included marketing, recipe creation, editorial staff, and budgeting/shopping. The project required students to use consumer marketing skills, math, knowledge of recipes, ELA, collaboration, and time management.

Current 5th grader, Mark Cioffi, is a student by day and a cowboy racer by night. He has been driving since 3rd grade and he has been perfecting his skills ever since.. Thanks to Mark and his dad, West Sand Lake Elementary School K Kids were able to end their year with a special presentation and an ice cream treat.
