This morning, while operating at a warehouse that had an odor of burning inside, members were dispatched to Homestead Avenue for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Due to the call being on the border, Port Reading was initially dispatched to the incident and responded. Woodbridge Fire Department was also requested for Rescue 1.
Crews arrived to a two car accident with one vehicle pinned under a box truck with the driver still trapped in the vehicle and an active diesel fuel leak. A lengthy extrication was performed, and once the driver was freed, they were turned over to awaiting EMT's and medics before being transported to the hospital. At this time, there is no updates in regards to patient condition.

Yesterday, Engine 5-4 and crew joined up with members of the Colonia Fire Department to fly the American flag over the Alvin Williams memorial site as part of the law enforcement memorial bike ride.
Members of both Woodbridge and Perth Amboy Police Departments ride bikes to the sites of their fallen officers who passed away in the line of duty and pay tribute for their service and sacrifices.

Engine 5-1 was dispatched into South Brunswick this morning to assist at the scene of a mulch yard fire that has been burning since yesterday. Crew assisted in suppression operations before being returned back to Avenel.

Yesterday at 1628 hours, members were dispatched along with members from Woodbridge, Port Reading and Colonia for a reported smoke condition on Gayle Court.
Units arrived to a 1 story single family dwelling with a light smoke condition on the exterior of the house. Upon entry, crews located a fire in a bathroom fan that extended into the attic. A 1 3/4" attack line was deployed and crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further extension into the entire attic space. Extensive overhaul operations were performed as well as searches of the home which were negative. Once all operations were completed, scene was turned over to the Avenel Fire Prevention Bureau for their investigation.

Great work by all companies on scene as well as the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad for standing by and providing rehab to all members.

In a follow up to Saturday's visit to a lemonade stand in town, Emily visited the firehouse today along with her brother Jacob to present us with a $125 donation to our fire company from half of the sales she made that day selling lemonade.

Members this afternoon stopped by Monica Court to support Emily at her lemonade stand and get a cold refreshing cup of lemonade on this hot summer day.

Last year, Emily and her family hosted a yard sale and she asked if she can sell lemonade so that she can donate half the proceeds to a place of her choosing. Last year she donated towards a veterinary hospital that helped her family dog. This year, she chose our department as the place she wanted to donate to because she loves fire trucks and waving to our members as she passes by. We are extremely thankful for her kind gesture.

If you're in the Avenel area, stop by Monica Court, get a cold cup of lemonade and say hello to Emily and her brother Jacob.
