Elevated Fire Danger is possible again today across most of the area. Since fire behavior could be hard to anticipate in these conditions it is recommended to leave outdoor burning to the professionals.

Conditions favorable for erratic fire spread will exist in and around the I-70 corridor today where elevated wind speeds and low humidity overlap. Elsewhere conditions will not be as favorable. Stay safe from fire danger by properly discarding ci******es, avoid parking on dry grass, and avoid activities that cause open flames or sparks.

‼️⚠️Red Flag Warning now in effect for northern half of MO from noon to
6 pm - Watch was upgraded to Warning and expanded into Central and East-Central Missouri by NWS!
⚠️The combination of low humidity, gusty southwesterly winds, and dry
vegetation will support dangerous fire spread.
⚠️Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged in the warning area. Make sure all fires are fully extinguished, and monitor recent burns for redevelopment.

Today, we responded on a mutual aid request from the North Callaway Fire Protection District for a field fire. At the time of the call, one North Callaway firefighter was available to respond, and six of our Auxvasse volunteers answered to provide additional support.

Through mutual aid cooperation and teamwork, the fire was safely extinguished and no injuries were reported.

This is exactly why mutual aid partnerships are so important — when availability is limited, neighboring departments step in to ensure proper coverage and a safe outcome for the community.

We are proud of our volunteers who were able to respond and assist. Working together keeps our area protected. Great job AFD!
