Austin is proud to serve as the host city for this year’s Urban Land Institute (ULI) Hines Student Competition, with Hancock Center selected as the 2026 competition site just north of downtown.

Last week, we gathered at The University of Texas at Austin to celebrate seven interdisciplinary student teams representing The University of Texas at Austin in this prestigious competition—an especially strong showing for our local university community. Attendees had the opportunity to view student proposals, connect with ULI Austin member advisors, and celebrate the announcement of results from UT Austin’s internal competition, reviewed by an industry jury that included ULI Austin members.

Congratulations to all of this year’s participants for their thoughtful, forward-thinking proposals for Hancock Center.

🏆 First Tier: Hancock Recentered | The GreenLink*
🥈 Second Tier: The Mall | Mosaic 41 | The Well at East Avenue
🥉 Third Tier: The Third Condition | Hancock Streetscape

*A special shoutout to The GreenLink team—Michael Alada, Anushka Deshpande, Meng-Shin Lin, Sushmita Gautam, and Josh Hu—for earning a finalist spot in the official ULI Hines Student Competition. Special thanks to their ULI Austin Mentor, Bill Davies, and to Steven Spears and Dean Almy for serving as their advisors.

We’re incredibly grateful to all of the ULI Austin mentors who generously volunteered their time and dedication to support each team throughout the competition—Juan Carlos de la Garza, Jake Gillespie, Todd Kaiser, Nick LaDuca, Andrew Lesmes, Michael Hang, Samantha Riddell, Maitreya Shah, Tim Shaughnessy, Paige Siegel, Brandon Stewart, and Efrain Velez.

Lastly, a big thank you to Rebecca Leonard for serving as a mentor as well as coordinating ULI Austin’s overall involvement and thoughtfully matching mentors with each UT team.
