We don't allow arm floats ("water wings") at any of our locations.
At SafeGuard Aquatics, the safety of our swimmers is our top priority. We adhere to a set of strict guidelines to ensure a secure and enjoyable aquatic environment for everyone. One important policy we have is the prohibition of children wearing "water wings" or inflatable arm floaties in the pool. Here's a detailed explanation on why we have implemented this rule:
1οΈβ£ False Sense of Security: While "water wings" may seem like a convenient tool for young swimmers, they can provide a false sense of security. These inflatable arm floaties may give the impression that a child is fully protected from drowning, leading to a decrease in parental supervision or the child's own awareness of their swimming abilities.
2οΈβ£ Restriction of Natural Movement: "Water wings" restrict the natural movement of a child's arms and can interfere with proper swimming technique development. They tend to keep the arms in an elevated position, hindering the child's ability to learn proper strokes and coordination in the water.
3οΈβ£ Dependence on Floatation Devices: By relying heavily on "water wings" or similar inflatable arm floaties, children may become overly dependent on these devices. This dependence hampers their progress in developing essential swimming and water safety skills, potentially leading to difficulties when confronted with real-life situations where floatation devices are not available.
4οΈβ£ False Buoyancy and Balance: Inflatable arm floaties can create an imbalance in the body's natural buoyancy. They primarily support the upper body, causing the legs to drop, resulting in an unnatural body position in the water. This imbalance can disrupt a child's ability to maintain stability and may impede their overall progress in learning to swim effectively.
5οΈβ£ Potential Deflation or Malfunction: Inflatable arm floaties are not foolproof and can deflate or malfunction unexpectedly. Such incidents can catch children off guard and compromise their safety in the water. We believe it is important to eliminate the reliance on these devices and instead focus on proper swimming skills and water safety education.
Our goal at SafeGuard Aquatics is to foster a safe and supportive environment where children can learn to swim with confidence and develop essential water safety skills. We encourage parents and guardians to engage in proactive supervision, enroll their children in professional swim lessons, and promote responsible water safety practices both inside and outside of our facility.
We are committed to providing the best possible swimming experience and maintaining the highest standards of safety. Together, let's create a secure environment that allows children to flourish and become competent swimmers.
