Texas State Law Library

Reference librarians are available to help library users locate information, identify relevant resources, and develop search strategies. We do not have attorneys on sta

Call 1-844-829-2843 (toll-free) or (512) 463-1722 for immediate reference assistance during our regular business hours: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. Contact us online through our Ask-A-Librarian program and we will respond via email: http://www.sll.texas.gov/about-us/public-services/ask-a-librarian/submit-a-question/

🎉 Great news! Our library has been awarded a generous grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to develop the Texas Legal Oasis Project.

The project will create a free online training course for public librarians, giving them the tools and confidence to help community members find reliable legal information.

Librarians will learn how to:

• Point people toward trustworthy legal resources.
• Make referrals to the right organizations and professionals.
• Answer basic questions about common legal topics like divorce, landlord/tenant issues, and estate planning.
• Stay within the boundaries of their role (provide information, not legal advice).

You can read more about the Texas Legal Oasis Project on our website: https://www.sll.texas.gov/spotlight/2026/04/library-receives-a-grant-from-the-texas-bar-foundation/

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
