The Grassroots Marketplace (TGM) is a scalable duplicable retail model focused on incubating & accelerating community-based ‘grassroots’ food & craft entrepreneurship. The mission of TGM is to bring more women into the economy at the community/neighborhood level. Through these pathways, the following products become available to the community:

**Healthy food - work with local farms and other prod

ucers to provide produce for sale and use in the garden-to-table cafe. In addition to prepared foods, the cafe will offer juicing services for individuals.

**Microbusiness marketplace - food, craft and other 'human scale' businesses

**Community meeting space - indoor and outdoor space available for events including food fairs, live music and other small festivals

**Education - Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship program, 'makers' space for artisans, extended learning space for local colleges and universities to activate the knowledge gained in the classroom. Developing a space into a micro-business incubator for fledgling entrepreneurs reflects the needs of the entrepreneurs in the local community. By keeping the rent low and costs manageable, new entrepreneurs have a chance to learn about their market, work with fellow business owners and organically grow into their success. If the full-time commitment is a barrier, there is the option to pay a daily fee for those who only work during the weekend or at special events. TGM will tie together all the elements: accessibility, inclusion, entrepreneurship, mind/body/spirit health, food, tea, community, and SLOW TechTM which reflects the purpose of TGM to incubate businesses which are positioned for sustainable success since they reflect the local community needs. Given the lack of traditional employment opportunities, it is largely up to the residents who continue to reside in the town to secure alternative methods of earning a living. This is why entrepreneurship training and supports are critical needs in the rural areas, where residents have to learn to create business and livelihood opportunities that would not otherwise exist.

We can all feel the economic landscape changing and the time is coming for a reboot of CRM. Whether it comes forward as The Grassroots Marketplace, Tannehill Marketville Collective or under another name, the mission will be the same: provide a place for people to get started. We've been acculturated to try to become millionaires, however the truth is that most folks could change their lives with an additional $500/month.

During the session, panelists Ertharin Cousin of Food Systems for the Future, Jeremy Coller of FAIRR, Mahesh Roy of IIGCC, and Zitouni Ould-Dada of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization underscored the importance of investing in food systems transformation.

To advance this goal, Roy, IIGCC’s Director of Investor Strategies Programme, shared that the Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) will classify agriculture, forestry, and fisheries as a high impact sector.

“IIGCC has upgraded agriculture, forestry and fishing to a high impact sector in the Net Zero Investment Framework, meaning global investors will have the same expectations of companies in these sectors as they do with fossil fuel firms,” Roy says.

NZIF is the most widely used net zero framework for investors, helping them develop net zero targets and transition plans. The reclassification means that the agriculture sector is being recognized for the “substantial greenhouse gas emissions” created during operations.

The Net Zero Investment Framework will reclassify the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector as high impact.

This has led to extraordinarily inhumane levels of outrage burning in every quarter of our shared society.
