Big thank you to Gunter PD for hosting an SFST Refresher class yesterday!

We offer several different courses:

8-hour SFST Refresher Course
This course uses the nationally standardized SFST curriculum and is designed to improve the administration and overall consistency of the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) battery by keeping officers up to date and proficient.

24-hour SFST Practitioner Course
This training course uses the nationally standardized SFST curriculum and prepares Texas Peace Officers to administer and interpret the results of the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing battery. This course is offered to bridge the gap in officers who attended the Basic Peace Officer Course in Texas prior to January 1, 2005, when this course was mandated to be included in all Texas BPOCS.

50-hour SFST Instructor Course
The Texas SFST Training Program offers a FREE 50-hour
Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor Course to licensed Texas Peace Officers who are TCOLE certified instructors. This training follows the nationally standardized SFST curriculum and prepares Texas Peace Officers to instruct fellow officers on how to properly administer and interpret the results of the SFST battery.

DRIVE SOBER hard stop❗️

🚨 : Rudy Madrid, the County Judge of Kleberg County, was arrested on a DWI charge following a traffic stop conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS confirmed.

According to DPS, just after 6 p.m., a trooper stopped a vehicle for driving without headlights when required on US 77 southbound near County Road 2180. The driver was identified by Texas driver’s license as Rodolfo Madrid Jr. DPS said the trooper detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and conducted standardized field sobriety testing.
DPS stated Madrid completed the horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) test but refused the remaining two field sobriety tests. After being read implied consent, Madrid refused to provide a breath or blood specimen. As a result, DPS obtained a search warrant for a blood draw, which was carried out at Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
Madrid was then arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, DPS said.
