As a park host, you'll take part in a diverse range of activities throughout the park. Whether it's keeping the grounds tidy and supporting interpretive programs, you'll experience a bit of everything as a park host!

We're now accepting applications for two park host opportunities: Maintenance Host and Interpreter Host.

Ever wanted to live at Lost Maples? Love helping people and want to help take care of your state park? Join our team as a volunteer park host! We are booking our park host calendar for the end of this year and next year, so contact the park or register at the link below if you are ready to become a host!

What is a park host?

A park host is a volunteer who lives in the park and helps our team with a variety of tasks, including maintenance work like cleaning restrooms, monitoring campgrounds and helping campers, and helping with activities and programs. Park hosts play an important role in supporting our team and giving our visitors a great park experience!

In exchange for 24 hours of work per week, park hosts at Lost Maples stay in a 50amp full hook up campsite with access to a washer and dryer.

Do you love the state parks and are interested in a career in conservation law enforcement? If you do, we have a Career Opportunity Program (COP) for volunteers to gain career or operational knowledge of the State Park Police occupation.

🧠Learn directly from active Park Police Officers.
👮‍♂️Gain valuable field experience patrolling with an officer!
👀 Safely observe incidents such as traffic stops.

COP volunteers must have a minimum of 60 completed semester credit hours from a college or university and be 18 years or older.

⭐️ CALLING ALL PARK HOSTS ⭐️
📣 New opening starting soon! Including the months of August through November.
💚 As a Volunteer Park Host, you will support TPWD's mission by assisting with the day-to-day functions of the park and providing outstanding customer service to park visitors, maintaining the cleanliness of park grounds and facilities, and supporting basic maintenance needs.
- In exchange for a minimum of 24 volunteer hours per week, you are provided with a 50-amp full hook-up campsite. All training and equipment will be provided. You also receive the opportunity to play a critical role in the conservation and stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of Texas!

Do you enjoy the great outdoors and want to put your skills and abilities to use for Texas State Parks? If so, you’ll love the scenic canyon landscape of Caprock Canyons State Park, not to mention the Official Texas State Bison Herd grazing out on the prairie. And, best of all, you’ll earn a FREE water and electric campsite with full hookup just for helping us out at only 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities include helping with visitation surveys when needed, various facilities and grounds maintenance duties, interpretive programming, and other volunteer duties as assigned.
