Last week, CACTX, in partnership with the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County, proudly hosted Partners in Courage: Honoring Legislative Leadership. This gathering brought together child advocacy partners and community leaders to recognize Senator Angela Paxton, Representative Jeff Leach, and Representative Candy Noble for their exceptional leadership during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. Their strong dedication to strengthening protections for child victims of crime continues to shape a safer, more responsive system for children across Texas.

We are deeply grateful for their commitment and for the meaningful impact their leadership has on the lives of Texas children.

CACTX honors National Police Week by recognizing the dedication of our law enforcement partners who work alongside Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) across Texas to protect children and play a critical role in the multidisciplinary response to crimes against children.

Through partnerships with more than 1,000 law enforcement jurisdictions, the CAC network sees every day the vital role law enforcement plays in advancing public safety and justice for child victims of crime and their families.

We are grateful to our law enforcement partners for their commitment and collaboration in protecting child victims of crime.

CACTX recently visited the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center to see firsthand how their team supports child victims of crime. During Child Abuse Prevention Month, we’re especially proud to stand alongside all the CACs across Texas working to provide every child impacted by crime the critical services they deserve. We were truly inspired by the intentionality and care infused into every aspect of the work being done to safeguard the children in their communities.

During our visit, Rep. Ellen Troxclair’s team presented Yvonne Evans, founder of the Hill Country CAC, with a beautiful necklace designed specifically with the CAC in mind—a thoughtful gesture recognizing her years of service and dedication to children in the community.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, CACTX Chief Prevention Officer Ellen Morrissey was honored to present at the Inaugural Public Health Summit, hosted by Bexar County Public Health and the Kate Marmion School of Public Health at UT San Antonio.

Ellen shared key insights from a CACTX‑led child sexual abuse prevention initiative that integrates prevention strategies into pediatric healthcare settings, along with lessons from our evaluation partnership with UT San Antonio.

Child sexual abuse is a preventable public health issue. Collaborations like this strengthen prevention across clinical and community systems—helping protect children across Texas. Thank you to UT San Antonio for the invitation and for amplifying this critical issue within the public health space.
