AUSTIN, Texas — Col. Dallas Moore, commanding officer of the Texas State Guard Training Command, was promoted during a ceremony Aug. 29, 2026, at Camp Mabry in Austin, recognizing his continued service and leadership in the Texas State Guard.

Maj. Gen. Roger Sheridan, commander of the Texas State Guard, officiated the ceremony and presented Moore with his new rank.
Moore’s family joined him for the occasion, with his spouse, Jeanne Marie Krauel Moore, assisting with the changing of rank.

Congratulations to Col. Moore on this milestone and his continued service to the Texas State Guard and the people of Texas.

The Texas State Guard is now recruiting for the next Officer Candidate School (OCS) class.

OCS is the premier leadership development program for Service Members seeking a commission as an officer in the Texas State Guard. Through challenging academic instruction, field training, and practical leadership experiences, candidates develop the skills and confidence required to lead Soldiers in support of the Texas State Guard's state mission.

Whether leading a team through complex scenarios, making decisions under pressure, or strengthening your military knowledge and professional presence, OCS prepares future officers to serve with competence, character, and commitment.

Basic Eligibility
✔ Four-year college degree (waivers may be considered)
✔ Under 50 years of age (waivers considered to age 54)
✔ In good standing with your unit
✔ Demonstrated leadership potential and a desire to serve
