We are commanded by faith to abstain from all forms of "nifâq," or hypocrisy. We must oppose accordingly the desacralization of the public sphere, and the reduction of religious freedom into an arena for misleading, manipulative, and money-driven identity politics. We cannot stress this enough: it is with the very same unwavering conviction with which we oppose the legacy of colonialism in the Mus
lim world that we stand by America's equivalent right to remain what she has always been. One principle as essential to her national identity as religious diversity and freedom is her unwavering Christian heritage. This pillar of our once great nation has never been the instrument of bigotry, despite what the insistence of the liberal media and their relentless atheistic agenda. On the contrary, it has been a source of inspiration for millions of lives lived in accordance with values all people of conscience hold dear. As proud Americans, we celebrate our nation's character and origins. Political correctness – at the heart of President Obama's refusal to call Islamic terrorism what it is – has done nothing to eliminate the religious extremism that plagues our community. Terrorism is a heresy according to all schools of Traditional Islam. As a result of the rapid liberalization of Islam in very recent decades, however, traditional Quranic interpretation is being replaced by those influenced by Marxism and Anarchism. It is the liberalization of Islam that is stealing the voices from traditionalist authorities – all of whom oppose terrorism – and handing them to more and more crooks and extremists every day. This administration's support of Islamist organizations abroad, and failure to do more than lip service at home, comes quite sadly by little surprise. While some of our conservative allies have demonized our community for the murderous ideologies that kill us every day in the name of our own religion, liberal populists welcome us only through equally ignorant moral apathy, naivety, and the prospect of enlightening us. The story of American Muslims is that of a community once made of strong Republicans, who fell for the spell of the Democratic party which systematically suppresses the advancements of religious and ethnic minorities in order to mold them into a dependent voting base, promising them easy solutions, and support public intellectuals and activists who demonize those who love their country and work hard, calling them Uncle Toms, traitors to their communities. The liberal agenda in this country has proven itself to be – time and time again – a common adversary to all people of faith. Despite its efforts to separate us, it must bring us together. Our overlapping consensus comes not from submission to the latest fads in PC culture. It comes from loving our neighbors and the nation we share together. It is in the name of God alone that the hearts of all believers are adorned. We must not confuse this virtue for its parody in the form of identity politics. We must make America great again.
