“Success is Built not Found” -

Region V staff set out to visually represent the building blocks of of the reentry journey, from rebuilding identity to strengthening stability and community connections. The designs reflect Reentry is not a single moment but a structured process shaped by support, personal responsibility and hard work.

Together, the designs show how lasting success is intentionally built, one block at a time. Tell us how you think Region V did?

Behind every moment like this is work you don’t see.

The preparation. The nerves. The effort to show up better than before.

We had the honor of being part of something special - helping fathers get ready, watching them step into a moment that meant everything, and making sure their daughters felt nothing short of celebrated.

For many, this wasn’t just a dance. It was reconnection and real time healing.

That’s the heart of rehabilitation - restoring relationships, rebuilding trust, and creating moments that remind people who they’re capable of being.

To the moms and caregivers - thank you for trusting us with your daughters and allowing this moment to happen. 💖

And a special thank you to our incredible partners, Texas Restaurant Foundation, Windham School District, and Prison Fellowship! What a privilege it was celebrating family with you all!

What happens when lived experience meets leadership, peer support, and purpose? You get something real!!

The Big Texas Rally for Recovery brought together Recovery Support Peer Specialists, rehab and reentry professionals, community partners, leadership and representatives from across all TDCJ divisions alongside the Windham School District to do one thing - build something stronger, together.

From powerful storytelling to peer-led insights and the introduction of an enhanced recovery housing model, every part of this experience reinforced the impact of connection, accountability, and living a healthy, purpose-driven life.

The outcome changes when every piece of the system shows up unified, intentional, and focused. ❤️‍🩹

Built to Rise: A Women’s Reentry Experience brought together women from the Crain Unit who are within six months of release, creating space for preparation, reflection, and connection as they approach their transition home.

A panel featuring Kathy Griffin, Katelyn Smith, and Katrina Harris offered real insight into the first 72 hours after release. They spoke candidly about the challenges they faced and the strategies that helped them push through and stay on track.

Participants moved through seven interactive stations, developed in partnership with the Windham School District, focused on key reentry areas like relationships and boundaries, survival planning, identity and mindset, overall readiness, and navigating those critical first 72 hours.

These conversations and connections are vital because what happens next depends on what’s built now. 💖

Facilities Division has eyes on the center square 👀

Strong work and even stronger support to the mission 💪 We LOVE seeing these submissions but even more, we love the collaboration and commitment behind them.

The final product is going to be a powerful representation of the many vital roles it takes to make reentry successful.

Celebrating the inaugural Enduring Service graduation at Travis State Jail. Through a partnership between TDCJ and Austin Animal Services, this program creates real opportunity on both sides. Shelter dogs gain a path to adoption, while incarcerated veterans, who are hand-selected and trained to be handlers, build structure, discipline, and confidence as they prepare for life after release.

Over the course of 12 weeks, the dog handlers work hands-on to train basic obedience and care for these dogs, developing practical skills that extend far beyond the program itself.

By graduation, the dogs are ready for their furever homes… and the men are one step closer to theirs.
