Railroad Commission of Texas The RRC is the oldest regulatory agency in the state It was established in 1891 to regulate the rail industry of the 1800s.

The Railroad Commission of Texas is the oldest regulatory agency in the state and one of the oldest in the country. Since that time the Commission has been given the responsibility for overseeing the activities of many different industries. The Commission considers protection of the environment and preservation of individual property rights to be two of its primary responsibilities. The Commission, through its employees, has a long and proud history of service to both Texas and to the nation.

The RRC is pleased to announce David Lindley as the new Director of the Commission’s Oil and Gas Division.

Lindley brings nearly three decades of experience in oil and gas production, operations and engineering, including his most recent role as Assistant Director of Field Operations within the division.

In his new role, he will help guide the division’s strategic direction, strengthen operations, support employees and advance the agency’s mission.
