Whitehall Cooperative

Whitehall Cooperative Whitehall cooperative is a vegetarian, consensus-run, multi-generational housing coop located in the West Campus neighborhood of Austin, Texas.

Whitehall was established in 1948 as an all women's student co-op. It is the oldest housing cooperative in Texas. In 1971 the co-op went co-ed and began accepting members regardless of their student status. The house was built in the 1890's, allegedly by a wealthy New Orleans river boat captain. In the 1970's(?), a large structural addition was made that included a new kitchen, sun deck, and five

bedrooms. We are located 2 blocks west of the University of Texas at Austin, on the northwest corner of Nueces and 25th Street.
