Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars

Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars The Texas VFW is the premier Veterans Service Organization representing all military veterans

Originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces, and their families. The 2.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW Posts around the world. We are at heart an organization dedicated to providing a place for all of those who have sacrificed in our nat

ion’s conflicts abroad. While we are a national organization, we express this dedication through our local posts and programs to support veterans service members, and their families.

Robbing from one Veteran to pay the benefits of another Veteran is not the solution to giving our Veterans what they've earned!

‼️ Action Alert‼️

Congress is considering legislation that would expand some veterans' programs by changing disability ratings for tinnitus and obstructive sleep apnea.

According to VA estimates, those changes could affect up to 1.5 million veterans and reduce disability compensation by approximately $57 billion over the next 10 years.

Veterans should not pay for veterans' benefits.

What an incredible event with the Texas VFW!

United States Veterans Service Dogs was honored to be part of the Texas VFW State Convention, where we celebrated the graduation of 12 Veteran Service Dog Teams.

These moments remind us why this mission matters — veterans gaining independence, confidence, and a loyal partner trained to stand beside them every step of the way.

A huge thank you to the Texas VFW for the continued support, hospitality, and commitment to helping veterans across our communities. It was a great event, and we can’t wait to come back with even more Veteran Service Dog Teams in the future.

Together, we are changing lives - one veteran, one service dog, one team at a time.

Celebrating these remarkable Texas VFW Women Veterans at the 2026 State Convention! Their dedication and service have made lasting contributions to our armed forces, and they continue to uplift their fellow Veterans and communities with unwavering support.

Although he was unable to attend the 2026 Texas VFW State Convention, State Judge Advocate Steve Evans took a moment to send his greetings and introduce a special message from Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Dustin Burrows.

Speaker Burrows congratulated the Department of Texas VFW on achieving All-American status and offered special recognition to State Commander Dave Walden for his leadership and dedication to Texas veterans.

Thank you, Speaker Burrows, for your support of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the veterans we proudly serve.

TxVFW proudly recognizes June 12 as Women Veterans Recognition Day.
On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, allowing women to serve as permanent members of the United States Armed Forces. While women have answered our nation's call throughout American history, this landmark legislation formally recognized their place in the military, helping to pave the way for future generations of service members. In 2017, Texas joined approximately 16 other states in honoring women veterans on this day of observance, commemorating the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication of the women who have served and continue to serve in our military. Their contributions have strengthened our Armed Forces, defended our freedoms, and inspired generations of Americans.

Women Veterans are the fastest-growing segment of the Veteran population, yet their stories are too often untold. On this Women Veterans Day, we encourage all Texans to recognize the women Veterans in their communities, learn their stories, and thank them for their service.

Congratulations to Department of Texas VFW Commander Dave Walden on earning one of the most prestigious recognitions in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Triple Crown.

This rare achievement is awarded to leaders who have earned All-American status at the Post, District, and Department levels, reflecting years of dedication, service, leadership, and commitment to the mission of the VFW.

While this honor recognizes Commander Walden's exceptional leadership, it also represents something larger: the collective effort of VFW members across Texas who continue to recruit, mentor, serve Veterans, support active-duty military personnel, strengthen communities, and preserve our organization's legacy for future generations.

The Department of Texas is successful because of members who consistently answer the call to serve. From local Posts to District leadership and Department initiatives, Texans continue to set a high standard for what it means to build a strong and impactful VFW.

Commander Walden's Triple Crown is a testament to that culture of excellence. Texas is a special place within the VFW, and leaders like Dave Walden help ensure that our organization remains strong, relevant, and ready to serve Veterans, service members, and their families for years to come.

As we gather for the Department of Texas VFW State Convention beginning June 11, be sure to congratulate Commander Walden in person and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment alongside him. More importantly, take a moment to celebrate the members, Posts, Districts, and leaders whose dedication continues to make Texas one of the strongest and most respected Departments in the VFW.

Thank you, Commander Walden, and thank you to every member across Texas who contributes to this shared success and enduring legacy. Here's to celebrating our great state, our proud traditions, and the Veterans, military families, and communities we serve.

On June 6, 1944, D-Day marked the largest amphibious assault in history as Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. For Veterans, this day is a solemn reminder of selfless service and the heavy price paid for our freedom. It exemplifies valor and unity in the face of tyranny, serving as a foundational example of courage.

Historically, D-Day was pivotal in the liberation of Western Europe and a crucial turning point in World War II, halting the horrors of the Holocaust and protecting the democratic values we cherish today. D-Day was a turning point that not only led to the liberation of France but also marked the beginning of the end for N**i Germany. It facilitated the advance of Allied forces into occupied Europe, ultimately establishing the groundwork for a democratic Europe. The principles fought for during this operation continue to inspire global movements for liberty and human rights today.

As we honor the bravery of our Veterans, let's ensure their history and sacrifice are preserved for future generations. Consider joining local commemorative events, many of which can be found through a local VFW Post, while also being intentional about spreading awareness about this pivotal moment in history. Together, we can ensure that the values of courage and freedom endure for future generations.
